Metro Pacific Iloilo Water proudly launches this January 19, 2021, TATAP Ilonggo – a community sustainability program in partnership with the Iloilo City Government. This program aims to provide Ilonggos with further access to clean water for handwashing and sanitation facilities.
MPIW started its campaign by turning over twenty (20) handwashing facilities to barangays, health centers, and public markets around the city.
To complement this initiative, an information, education, and communication (IEC) lecture series entitled “Tatap Ilonggo Awareness Campaign”, in coordination with USAID Surge and Iloilo City Public Information Office will be administered to various barangays to raise awareness on water conservation, sanitation, and the importance of personal hygiene and handwashing.
According to Mayor Jerry P. Treñas, Iloilo City is thankful for MPIW’s support on the establishment of handwashing stations around Metro Iloilo and its participation in Iloilo City’s information campaign on COVID-19, which highlights the importance of proper sanitation and hygiene.
TATAP Ilonggo also intends to provide water to low pressure areas and LGU beneficiaries through the deployment of water tanker trucks. Target areas include quarantine facilities to ensure a stable supply of clean, potable water to frontliners and health workers apart from MPIW’s current service areas.
“We declare our unwavering support to the City of Iloilo by providing communities with clean and safe water. We will also continue to ensure reliable water supply by deploying water tankers, installing water supply stations in quarantine facilities and various billeting centers for COVID-19 front liners, and putting up handwashing facilities in public markets and health centers with proper handwashing infographics,“ added MPIW COO, Ben Mañosca during the launch of TATAP Ilonggo.
Metro Pacific Water and its subsidiaries in Iloilo continue to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of Ilonggos in their fight against COVID-19 through its corporate sustainability and relief efforts.
